Our remote learning offer

Our remote learning aims are:

  1. To provide an opportunity for children to interact frequently with their teachers and friends
  2. To offer high quality learning opportunities for all children across the school
  3. To ensure continued coverage of the National Curriculum whilst away from school
  4. To develop the knowledge, understanding and skills required to be a successful learner
  5. To develop parent understanding of the curriculum and how they can support their child at home

We aim to provide approximately 3 hours of remote learning per day depending on the age of the child. This takes place in 3 different forms:

  1. One live lesson per day focusing on a key curriculum area
  2. One pre-recorded lesson per day
  3. An independent or adult led activity

Most lessons will require children to write something in one of the books they have been given by school. Please see more detailed information on our remote learning offer here.

We understand that families will have varying circumstances which could impact upon the way remote learning is accessed. If any family is finding this particularly difficult, we simply ask that you do what you can. Sometimes a family activity such as a walk, some gardening or making dinner together might be what is needed in place of one of the activities. Whilst we would encourage all families to engage as much as possible, please do not put too much pressure on yourselves.

Please also be mindful that different children approach their learning in different ways. It could be that some children are happy to get on with their learning completely independently, whilst others need more support. If they need more help, they are likely to ask but they can also be gently encouraged to work independently too from time to time if this feels appropriate. This may also depend on the age of the child to some extent too and the amount of support they usually receive when in school. Please do not worry about any of this; the key message is to be flexible and not to worry about what others may be doing – what works for one family may not work for another.
